CAIRO, May 18 (KUNA) -- Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi on Sunday reiterated his call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and allow access of humanitarian aid, commending ongoing joint mediation efforts by Egypt, the US and Qatar.
According to the Egyptian Presidency, his remarks came during a meeting with the US Senior Advisor on Arab and Middle Eastern Affairs, Massad Boulos, attended by Foreign and Immigration Minister Dr. Bader Abdulaty along with General Intelligence Service Chief (GIS) Hassan Rashad.
The talks covered regional developments and ways to restore stability to Libya, Lebanon, Sudan and Yemen, the statement added.
President Al-Sisi reaffirmed the strong US-Egypt ties and the country's commitment to deepen cooperation across all fields.
He stressed the need for an inclusive, Libyan-led political solution supported by a government capable of overseeing both presidential and parliamentary elections noting that Egypt is the most affected country by the instability in Libya.
The talks touched on the importance of safeguarding stability and sovereignty of Lebanon, calling for full implementation of UN Resolution 1701, as well as the Horn of Africa and the Sahel regions and efforts to underpin stability in those regions.
Meanwhile, Boulos reaffirmed Washington's keenness to work with Cairo to bolster security and stability across all fields as well as restore calm in the region.
The official highlighted the Egypt-US ties, noting that President Donald Trump's Administration is keen on deepening the strategic partnership with Egypt. (end)
