PARIS, March 28 (KUNA) -- French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday expressed solidarity with the people of Myanmar after a fiery earthquake struck the nation's central regions with tremors rattling Thailand and China.
Macron in a statement on (X) platform expressed support for the victims, the missing and their loved ones who were affected with quake.
Meanwhile, the French Interior Ministry issued a statement expressing identical sentiments of solace with the people of Myanmar, noting that the French embassies in Yangon and Bangkok were following up on the situation in coordination with the local crises response authorities.
Meanwhile, the French news channel BFM quoted Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, currently on a visit to the Chinese city of Shanghai, as saying that Paris was ready to lend help, disclosing that some French establishments were evacuated in Bangkok as a precaution.
He however indicated that there were yet no reports about French casualties as a result of the fierce tremors and re-affirmed preparedness to aid stricken communities if asked for.
A 7.7 degree quake on the Richter Scale hit the region of Sagaing in central Mynamar earlier today, with tremors reaching other regional countries namely Thailand, China, Cambodia and Bangladesh. (end)
