GAZA, March 23 (KUNA) -- Number of martyrs who have fallen since onset of the Israeli occupation aggression on Gaza Strip in early October 2023 has exceeded 50,000, in addition to 113,274 injury cases, a medical official said on Sunday.
Director General of the Health Authorities in Gaza Dr. Munir Al-Barsh said in a press release that the number of the martyrs since start of the war of genocide on Gaza Strip has reached more than 50,021.
Among the martyrs, there were 15,613 children and 827 babies younger than one year of age, he said, noting that victims of the war of genocide account for seven percent of the whole Gaza population.
More than 25,000 of the wounded need rehabilitation and long-term treatment, said Dr. Al-Barsh, adding that amputation cases reached 4,700 including 850 for children.
Dr. Al-Barsh warned of further dramatic deteriorating of living conditions in the strip in the shadow of the enclave's tight siege.
The local health authorities had affirmed that the hospitals could no longer aid the injured due to the strip encirclement, the escalating aggression and lack of medical supplies. (end)
