Israeli occupation airstrikes kill civilian in S. Lebanon

BEIRUT, March 23 (KUNA) -- Lebanese authorities announced on Sunday that one person was killed in renewed Israeli occupation airstrikes targeting southern Lebanon.
According to a statement from the Lebanese Ministry of Health, an Israeli occupation drone strike hit a vehicle in the town of Ayta Ash-Shab, resulting in the death of a civilian.
The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported that an armored unit of the Israeli occupation forces, including bulldozers, advanced into the Katamon Valley and erected new earth barriers in the area.
The agency also stated that Israeli occupation aircraft targeted several prefabricated homes in the towns of Naqoura and Chihine, causing significant material damage, and an airstrike was launched on the town of Labbouneh, though no casualties were reported.
On Saturday, Lebanon witnessed a series of Israeli occupation airstrikes in two waves, hitting southern Lebanon and the Beqaa Governorate in the northeast.
These attacks resulted in the deaths of seven people and left at least 40 others injured, and the strikes followed the launch of rockets from Lebanon toward the occupied Palestinian territories.
A ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and the Israeli occupation began on November 27, following the outbreak of military confrontations in October 2023, these clashes escalated into a full-scale war in September 2024, leading to thousands of deaths and injuries and causing widespread destruction to homes and infrastructure in Lebanon.
