Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmad Abul-Gheit
CAIRO, March 22 (KUNA) -- Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmad Abul-Gheit stressed on Saturday that the League has remained a unifying voice for Arabs for over 80 years, and accompanied them from colonialism to national liberation.
The League has remained in agreement over the situation and just cause of Palestine, which is facing the most challenges today, said Abul-Gheit in a speech on the League's eightieth anniversary.
He added that eighty years have witnessed major events in the world and the region, and that the organization has been a barrier against any attempts to alter or undermine this region.
Abul-Gheit pointed out that the League embodies all Arab peoples, and has a presence that amplifies Arabs in the international space.
He added that despite many achievements like the Arab Free Trade Area in 2005, and the Arab Common Electricity Market in 2024, the League yet has many other ambitions to achieve. (end)
