RABAT, March 6 (KUNA) -- Morocco received first set of U.S. AH-64 Apache attack helicopters.
According to the Moroccan News Agency (Maghreb Arabe Press), this came during a ceremony held at the first air base in Sale City, in the presence of Moroccan officials and an American delegation led by General Michael Langley, Commander of the United States Africa Command.
Moroccan Inspector General of the Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Zone Mohammad Berrid said in a speech that delivering the first batch of Apache helicopters is a shift in the path of the strategic partnership and strong military cooperation between Morocco and the US, according to the official news agency.
For his part, General Langley stressed that the delivery of the first helicopters batch to Morocco reflects the strength of the US-Moroccan partnership, given that Morocco is a major US ally outside NATO.
The first batch included six helicopters as part of a deal concluded between Morocco and the United States in June 2020, which includes 24 Apache helicopters, and 12 additional aircraft of the same model, in addition to advanced weapons. (end)
