Gulf Veterans Championship opens in Kuwait Sat.

KUWAIT, Feb 21 (KUNA) -- The Gulf Veterans Cup Football Championship will kick off at the Jaber Al-Mubarak Stadium at the Sulaibikhat Club in Kuwait on Saturday, with eight Gulf teams participating.
The eight teams are divided into two groups, based on the draw of the "Khaleeji Zain 26" Cup, which was hosted by Kuwait from December 20 to January 4. Group A includes Kuwait, Qatar, UAE and Oman while Group B comprises Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Bahrain and Yemen.
The first and second from each group qualify for the semi-finals.
The opening ceremony of the Gulf sports event will take place at the Jaber Al-Mubarak Stadium at 7:00 pm on Saturday under the patronage of Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi.
On the first day of the championship, Iraq and Yemen will meet at 4:45 pm local time, and Saudi Arabia will play Bahrain at 6:15 pm. (end) sad.mt
