WASHINGTON, Dec 6 (KUNA) -- US President-elect Donald Trump has appointed former US Senator David Perdue as Ambassador to the People's Republic of China.
In a statement late Thusday, Trump said that Perdue "had a 40-year international business career, and served in the US Senate, David brings valuable expertise to help build our relationship with China." He added that Perdue "has lived in Singapore and Hong Kong, and worked in Asia and China for much of his career." "He will be instrumental in implementing my strategy to maintain peace in the region, and a productive working relationship with China's leaders," Trump noted.
Perdue is set to execute his duties after January 20, if he receives the approval of the US Senate. (end) asj.ag
