USCENTCOM destroys unmanned Houthi sea vessels, drones in Red Sea

WASHINGTON, June 21 (KUNA) -- United States Central Command (USCENTCOM) announced late Thursday the successful destruction of four Houthi unmanned surface vessels (USV), and two unmanned aerial systems (UAS) over the Red Sea.
In statement on social media platform (X), USCENTCOM posted that their forces "successfully destroyed" the Houthi unmanned sea vessels and drones, while underlining that "there were no injuries or damage reported by US, coalition, or merchant vessels." The statement continued that USCENTCOM "was determined these systems presented an imminent threat to US, coalition forces, and merchant vessels in the region. These actions were taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure for US, coalition, and merchant vessels." On his part, US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller condemned the continuous Houthi Red Sea attacks that obstruct the arrival of relief aid into Yemen, and negatively impact the economic and humanitarian conditions locally and globally.
