Amman, Cairo underline Gaza humanitarian truce, ceasefire

AMMAN, April 1 (KUNA) -- Jordan and Egypt stressed on Monday that it is essential to reach a humanitarian truce and ceasefire in the Gaza Strip as soon as possible.
The call was made by King of Jordan Abdullah II and Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi during a meeting in Amman, according to the Jordanian Royal Court.
The Egyptian leader is in Amman on a single-day-long official visit.
The two leaders underscored the need to keep pressing for opening crossing points without obstacles in order to allow the immediate and adequate delivery of humanitarian and relief aid to the Palestinian territory, it said.
They also reiterated that the catastrophic humanitarian conditions in the enclave require immediate action by the international community to fend off further escalation.
The leaders of Jordan and Egypt, further, warned of the continued war on Gaza and settler violence against Palestinians in the West Bank, in addition to violations of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. (end) amn.mt
