Arab League urges immediate action to halt Gaza massacre
CAIRO, Jan 22 (KUNA) -- Arab League asserted on Monday that the dire situation in Gaza necessitates immediate and effective action from the international community, aligned with its values, laws, and systems, to put an end to the massacre and genocide.
This statement came during the speech of the Assistant Secretary General and President of the Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Sector of the Arab League Saeed Abu Ali, during the extraordinary session of the Permanent Representatives at the Arab League headquarters, discussing Israeli crimes and schemes against the Palestinian people.
This emergency meeting is part of the ongoing collective Arab efforts to confront the continuous Israeli destructive war on Gaza and the Palestinian people, now in its fourth consecutive month, committing more horrifying crimes as the catastrophic tragedy deepens with the interruption of basic necessities, he mentioned.
He underscored that the immediate priority is to redouble efforts and take necessary measures to halt the ongoing crime and bring an end to the genocide war, saving whatever remains, making any delay in stopping this destructive war or obstructing efforts to stop it tantamount to direct complicity, support, and participation in its crimes and horrors.
The ongoing genocide war, persistent in its objectives and continuous attempts, is systematically committing the crime of forced displacement, evident in the systematic pushing of Gaza's population from north to south and the imposition of mass transportation, creating a reality of forced displacement, evoking images reminiscent of the 1948 Nakba, he said.
Concerning relief efforts, Abu Ali emphasized the severe challenge posed by ongoing obstacles, resulting in a critical breakdown of essential life elements in Gaza, as inadequate resources, both in quantity and quality, exacerbate the crisis.
The priority is to stop the war and provide relief, which does not diminish the importance of necessary legal or political efforts in a complementary manner, he underscored.
He commended global official and civilian opposition to aggression, urging its cessation and accountability for war crimes before international courts like the International Court of Justice or the International Criminal Court.
Abu Ali underlined the importance of coordinating and intensifying efforts and initiatives in this legal context to achieve international justice.
He emphasized the vital need to open a new and genuine political horizon addressing the root causes of the conflict by ending Israeli occupation, establishing an independent Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem - a singular gateway and a certain guarantee for achieving the peace and stability sought.
As the European ministerial meeting unfolds today, with participation from Arab foreign ministers, it becomes a focal point in monitoring the ongoing diplomatic endeavors in the Arab world to cease the conflict and pave the way for peace.
On his side, Ambassador Mohammed Oualli, the Moroccan delegate, acting as the president of the extraordinary session of the Council of the Arab League at the level of permanent representatives, confirmed his country's commitment to the rights of Palestinians, expressing support for their just cause, and the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Palestinian cause is a defining aspect of Morocco's foreign policy, he stated, highlighting the alarming escalation against Palestinians and emphasizing their inalienable right to self-determination.
He rejected collective punishment and forced displacement policies, noting that the worsening crisis in Gaza necessitates global action to preserve security and stability, urging a binding decision for an immediate ceasefire and the delivery of aid.
He emphasized that resolving the Palestinian issue is crucial for peace and security in the Middle East, rejecting the notion that military solutions can achieve stability.
Oualli reiterated Morocco's support for peace through a two-state solution for regional security and stability.
In his speech, the Permanent Representative of Palestine to the Arab League Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk condemned the Israel's genocidal war against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
He considered that Israel is no longer just an illegal occupation force but has added a new bloody phase to its crime-ridden history, the phase of genocide with premeditation.
Over 108 days, Israel killed 25,000 Palestinians, injured over 62,000, and left more than 7,000 homes destroyed, Al-Aqlok stated, underlining that 70 percent of the victims of genocide in Gaza are children and women.
He confirmed that Israel slaughtered 11,000 innocent Palestinian children after its prime minister declared the battle between the children of light and the children of darkness and between civilization and barbarism, describing Palestinians as monsters who must be exterminated, including their men, women, infants, farmers, and animals, invoking ideological motives for his war against Palestinians.
These actions were identified as specific examples within Israel's openly declared genocide, dropping over 65,000 tons of explosives on Gaza, Al-Aklouk pointed out.
Israeli occupation forces destroyed either completely or partially more than 360,000 homes, 233 hospitals and health centers, 400 schools, and an equal number of mosques, also leaving 60,000 pregnant women at risk of death before, during, or after childbirth due to the destruction of all life essentials and the spread of infectious diseases in the region, Al-Aklouk mentioned.
The primary Israeli goal is not to eliminate resistance in Gaza but to forcibly displace the Palestinian people from their land and curb their demographic predominance in historical Palestine; a clear objective is evident in all Israeli policies and crimes, systematically transforming Gaza into a scorched and uninhabitable land.
He revealed that the Israeli goal of displacing Palestinians from their land is considered a vital objective for Zionist Israel.
He underlined that addressing the displacement of Palestinians should not only be limited to verbal expressions of rejection but should be enforced through specific measures including an immediate halt to aggression, lifting the deadly blockade, ensuring the flow of relief throughout the Gaza Strip, allowing the entry of international relief organizations, reopening hospitals and health centers, expeditiously reconstruct essential infrastructure, and permitting the unrestricted movement of Palestinian citizens within Gaza.
Al-Aklok called for the establishment of a temporary, inclusive Arab committee comprised of permanent delegates and the General Secretariat, where they are mandated to examine Arab measures on legal, economic, political, and diplomatic fronts, engaging Arab states, parliaments, and civil society organizations, as the objective is to effectively implement the resolution's provisions and is expected to release and circulate its report to member states within one week of its formation.
During this session, convened at the request of Palestine and endorsed by Arab nations, the Council examines Israeli crimes and schemes against the Palestinian people, with consideration of political, legal, diplomatic, and economic measures that can be undertaken or supported within the framework of the Arab League.
