Turkish Pres. raises minimum wage by 49 pct

ANKARA, Dec 27 (KUNA) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced Wednesday increasing minimum wages by 49 percent, about USD 580, for 2024.
Erdogan tweeted on "X" that the net minimum rate of wage in 2024 is 17,002 liras, about USD 580.
This announcement came after discussions made by the committee of specifying wages in Turkiye. It is expected that this rise would help enhance purchasing power among workers, over two thirds of whom have minimum wages, and this increase will be unchanged over 2024. The move came in light with a slight rise in inflation, reaching 61.98 percent in November compared with 61.36 in October. (end) aas.hss.hm
