ROME, Nov 13 (KUNA) -- Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said on Monday that the Gaza Strip must be part of the future Palestinian state.
Italian News Agency (ANSA) quoted Tayani as saying during his participation in the European Union foreign ministers' meeting in Brussels that they believe that Gaza should be a part of Palestine State and that the only legitimate organization to govern it is the Palestinian National Authority, which must change and be updated.
It is possible in the transitional phase for there to be a UN presence in Gaza Strip as well as the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) troops, to maintain peace and avoid the return of escalation, Tajani added, as is the case on the border between Lebanon and the Israeli occupation government.
The Italian official expressed his country's readiness to do its part to achieve the two-state solution and establish Palestinian state, which must include Gaza Strip and be governed by the National Authority in Palestine. (end)
