RAMALLAH, Oct 14 (KUNA) - President Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday categorically rejected the Israeli attempts to evict Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.
In a phone call with US President Joe Biden, President stressed the need to stop all attacks and respect international humanitarian law regarding what is going on in the Gaza Strip.
He underlined the need to allow urgent humanitarian corridors to be opened in the Gaza Strip, provide basic materials and medical supplies, delivering water, electricity and fuel to the citizens there.
He affirmed that peace and security in the Mideast region will only be achieved through the implementation of the two-state solution based on international legitimacy resolutions.
In the meantime, President Abbas demanded an immediate end to Israeli settlers' attacks against our people in Palestinian cities, villages and refugee camps in the West Bank, and an end to the extremists' incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which are causing an escalation of the situation.
He also rejected practices related to killing or abusing civilians on both sides, called for the release of civilians, prisoners and detainees.
The President reiterated his rejection of violence, affirming his adherence to international legitimacy, peaceful popular resistance and political action as a path to achieving our national goals of freedom and independence.
President Abbas thanked President Biden for his interest, role, and his administration's efforts to achieve security, stability, and peace in the region.
He stressed the readiness of the Palestinian side to engage in achieving just and comprehensive peace in our region as soon as possible, stressing that security and peace will only be achieved by giving the Palestinian people their full legitimate rights.
The President underscored the importance of creating a political solution and implementing the two-state solution based on international legitimacy, freedom and independence for our people in their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the 1967 borders. (end)
