Several Virginians wounded in high school shooting

WASHINGTON, June 6 (KUNA) -- Several people were reportedly wounded in "an active shooter situation" during a high school graduation ceremony in Richmond, Virginia, on Tuesday.
The Richmond Police and VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University) Police Departments, with support from Virginia State Police and Henrico Police, are on scene near the Altria Theater for a shooting incident, according to an alert from VCU Police.
"There is no ongoing threat to the community but there is a heavy police presence at Monroe Park. Richmond Police are leading the investigation," the alert added.
CNN reported, quoting Matthew Stanley with the Richmond Public Schools, that a graduation ceremony from another school scheduled later this evening has been canceled. (end) si.gb
