EU, NATO condemn attack on Nova Kakhovka dam in Ukraine

BRUSSELS, June 6 (KUNA) -- The European Union and NATOA Tuesday condemned the attack on the Nova Kakhovka dam in the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant in the city of Nova Kakhovka in Ukraine's Kherson region, which is currently under Russian control.
"The destruction of the Kakhovka dam today puts thousands of civilians at risk and causes severe environmental damage," said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on his twitter message.
"This is an outrageous act, which demonstrates once again the brutality of Russiaآ’s war in Ukraine," he added.
On his part, President of the European Council Charles Michel expressed his "shock" by the unprecedented attack of the Nova Kakhovka dam.
"The destruction of civilian infrastructure clearly qualifies as a war crime - and we will hold Russia and its proxies accountable," he added. (end) nk.mt
