Russia counters "large-scale" Ukrainian attack on Donetsk frontline

MOSCOW, June 5 (KUNA) -- Russian Defense Ministry claimed Monday that Ukrainian forces launched a "large-scale" attack on Donetsk frontlines.
The Ministry's spokesperson, Igor Konashenkov, said in a statement that Ukrainian forces attacked five outposts along the frontline in south Donetsk.
Russian forces killed more than 250 Ukrainian soldiers and destroyed 16 tanks, three infantry fighting vehicles and 21 armored combat vehicles, the Ministry stated.
It further added that Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov had been at the one of the command centers during the Ukrainian attack.
Ukraine had attacked Russian capital Moscow with drones twice last month and the Russians responded with missiles and drones targeting Kiev. (end) as.aai
