KUWAIT, June 3 (KUNA) --

1974 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah signs a decree exempting foodstuff from custom duties.
1979 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah signs a decree for Kuwait to join a protocol enjoying privileges offered by the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (Intesat), signed in Washington on May 19, 1978.
2000 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah signs a decree regarding execution of agreements of the divided zone with Saudi Arabia, with Jassem Al-Oun being named head of the team executing the border agreement between the two countries to provide housing units for Saudi citizens and infrastructure in Al-Zour Area, southern Kuwait.
2001 -- Kuwait government reduces taxes on foreign companies from 55 to 25 percent.
2001 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah grants former MP Hamad Al-Jo'an privileges equal to those of chairman of supreme judicial council, in recognition of his public service and contributions during his parliamentary memberships in 1985 and 1992.
2003 -- Kanaan Hamad, a renowned actor starting his career in 1963, passes away at age of 58.
2004 -- Maryam Al-Ghadhban, one of the founders of theater movement in Kuwait starting her career in 1960, passes away at age of 56. She won local and Arab awards for her works.
2007 -- Traditional village, Youm Al-Bahhar, opens at the sea front opposite the National Assembly.
2021 -- Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) completes the development of sustainable and safe strategies for reducing the use of toxic pesticides.
2022 -- Kuwait Journalists Association's Treasurer Dehairan Abal-Khail is elected member of the executive committee of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) during its 31st congress in Oman. (end) mt
