GCC chief cheers UAE hosting of '25 World Conservation Congress

RIYADH, June 2 (KUNA) -- Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Al-Budaiwi said Friday the United Arab Emirates won the bid to host the World Conservation Congress of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) thanks to the country's distinguished vision and efforts to protect environment.
In a statement from the GCC Secretariat, Al-Budaiwi congratulated the UAE leadership and people on the successful bid to host the global event in Abu Dhabi in 2025 under the theme of "Resilience Is in Our Nature." He noted that UAE's relentless efforts to protect environment and combat climate change also entitled the country to host the 2023 UN Climate Change Conference (COP28), to be held in Dubai in November.
