1879 -- Postal services began in the State of Kuwait under supervision of the Indian post administration. The service, launched upon request of Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah from the British Government to establish a post office in Kuwait, continued until 1904.
1923 -- State of Kuwait issued the first series of stamps. The prices of the 15 stamps, with the word Kuwait printed on them, were between half to 10 Rupees.
1957 -- Kuwait private sector established Kuwait Oil Tankers Company (KOTC). The first tanker, Kadhma, was received on May 15, 1959, capable of carrying 46,000 tons. Kuwait Government bought the company in 1970.
1960 -- A decree concerning pensions of state employees had been implemented.
1960 -- Kuwait discovered the first fresh water well in Rawdhatain area, northern Kuwait. The lowest point of the 50-square-kilometer well was 114 feet below sea level.
1961 -- Kuwait issued its first currency, the Dinar. The first issue consisted of Quarter Dinar, Half Dinar, Dinar, Five Dinars and 10 Dinars. The banknote had the photo of Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah on the front side and the back side included photos depicting development projects.
1961 -- Kuwait issued stamps sold with new currency, fils and dinar, after ceasing dealing with Indian Rupee thus cancelling old stamps.
1967 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah signed a decree to establish Faculty of Law and Sharia at Kuwait University. The first class - 40 males and 16 females - began education on September first.
1969 -- Central Bank of Kuwait began operations.
2002 -- Al-Muwasat Hospital, one of the private hospitals in Kuwait, opened and began offering integrated health care services.
2016 -- Bahrain's Authority for Culture and Antiquities granted Kuwait novelist Saud Al-Sanousi the cultural personality of the year award.
2021 -- Kuwait's Environment Public Authority (EPA) and Public Authority of Agriculture Affairs And Fish Resources (PAAFR) launched digital platform to allow finishing Kuwait Bay via reservation. (end) gta
