US, Morocco support UN efforts to resolve Moroccan Sahara conflict

WASHINGTON, March 21 (KUNA) -- US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita affirmed full support to the UN's efforts to find a political solution for the Moroccan Sahara conflict.
According to a statement by Principal Deputy Spokesperson of the US Department of State Vedant Patel late Monday, the two sides discussed efforts to protect regional peace and stability and Morocco's role amid several challenges in the Middle East and Africa.
They also discussed the Russian war on Ukraine, Libya's elections and instability in the Sahel Region.
Meanwhile, Blinken noted that the US still views Morocco's Autonomy Plan as serious, credible and realistic and one potential approach to meet the aspirations of the people of Moroccan Sahara. (end) rsr.ag
