CAIRO, March 19 (KUNA) -- Egypt is set to host a five-way meeting in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh on Sunday, with high-level political and security officials from Egypt, Palestine, Israel, Jordan and the US attending.
The meeting is part of regional and international efforts to achieve tranquility between both Palestinian and Israeli sides, Spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Ahmad Abu Zeid said in a press statement.
The five-way meeting, which follows a Feb. 26 US-brokered summit in Jordan, aims at supporting dialogue between the Palestinian and Israeli sides to work to stop unilateral actions and escalation, and break the existing cycle of violence and achieve calm, he said.
He added that the participation of regional and international parties in the meeting comes in the context of efforts to set out a follow-up mechanism for the potential outcomes of the meeting. (end)
