IFJ: 10 women journalists killed in 2022

BRUSSELS, March 8 (KUNA) -- Ten women journalists were killed in the line of duty in 2022, most of them reporting from conflict zones, the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) reported Wednesday.
To mark International Women's Day today, IFJ in a press release said that it is putting women reporting conflicts in the spotlight as part of a series of interviews to highlight daily challenges they face.
It also stressed the importance for governments to adopt international instruments that outlaw violence and attacks against journalists and support the IFJ-led Convention on the safety and independence of journalists and media workers.
Women's voices are crucial to get a full understanding of a story, it noted.
The Brussels-based IFJ represents around 600,000 journalists in 146 countries. (end) nk.hb
