LONDON, Feb 2 (KUNA) -- The British multinational oil and gas company, Shell, announced on Thursday that it posted 32.2 billion Pound Sterling (around USD 39.9 billion) in profits last year, the highest since Shell was established in 1907.
In a press release, Shell revealed that profits in the last quarter of 2022 reached 7.9 billion Pound Sterling (around USD 9.8 billion).
Last year's profits exceeded the number in 2021, it added.
The last huge profit Shell posted was in 2008 when the company racked around USD 31 billion amid the global economic crisis.
The oil and derivatives saw record high prices since the beginning of the Russian military assault on the Ukraine in February of 2022, leading to inflation and increasing expenses of gas, electricity, and fuel. (end)
