ALGIERS, Jan 30 (KUNA) -- The President of Kuwaiti lawmakers partaking in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Conference of the Parliamentary Union, MP Thamer Al-Suwait affirmed, Monday, on Kuwait's support to Palestine, condemning as well the recent Israeli aggression in Jenin city.
In a speech, at the 17th session of Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States Conference (PUIC), hosted in Algeria, Al-Suwait stressed on the importance of not ignoring those who commits acts of violence and focus only to those who respond to such violence, especially when such reaction is related to years of agony, suffering, and injustice and targets innocents and civilian infrastructure.
He affirmed that "Kuwait, officially and popularly, will never deviate from supporting Palestine," adding, "Palestine will remain the greatest and only lesson of steadfastness, and will remain present in the conscience of this nation, generation after generation." On a different issue, Al-Suwait expressed "the Kuwaiti delegation's strong condemnation on the violations that Muslims are subjected to in more than one place, especially what extremists have done by insulting the Holy book of the Quran, "stressing that" targeting sanctities creates nothing but hatred, leaves only grudges, and produces only extremism." On development efforts in the region, Al-Suwait said, "the stability and peace of the region is a major starting point for achieving sustainable development in Islamic countries," noting that "the reality of our Islamic world today requires determination more than ever before to take the first steps amid global challenges and dangers." He stressed that this step "necessitates us at the same time to place the critical importance of development above any consideration and set specific programs and goals to move according to them," noting that "these programs will not be able to be implemented unless the stability and peace of our region is achieved."
