EU urges restraint after drone attack on Iranian military facility

BRUSSELS, Jan 30 (KUNA) -- The European Union Monday called on all parties to avoid actions that can escalate tensions in the Middle East following a drone attack on a military facility in the city of Isfahan in Iran yesterday.
"We are aware of the reports. We are following the reports about the alleged drone strikes on military facility in Isfahan," lead EU spokesperson for foreign affairs and security policy, Peter Stano, told a news conference at the European Commission today.
"The EU calls on all parties to refrain from any action that could contribute to escalation of existing tensions in the region," he said.
"We don't know who was behind the attack. We don't know exactly what happened. What is very important for us is to see in a very volatile region currently not to see more escalation," added Stano.
According to western media reports, allegedly Israel was behind the attack. The Iranian defence ministry said it has foiled the drone attack. (end) nk.hb
