CAIRO, Jan 30 (KUNA) -- De-escalation is needed in the Middle East after the recent Israeli aggression against Palestinians, said President Abdelfatah Al-Sisi on Monday.
Bassam Radhi, Egyptian Presidential spokesman, indicated that Al-Sisi's statement came during his meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who began his regional tour in Egypt.
The spokesman affirmed that President Al-Sisi reiterated his country's steadfast stance on find a just solution for the Middle East crisis through providing the Palestinian people with their lawful rights.
Blinken, on his part, indicated that the US was eager to work with the Egyptian leadership to de-escalate the situation between Israelis and Palestinians.
According to the Egyptian Presidential spokesman, Al-Sisi and Blinken focused during their meeting on the recent dilemma in the Palestinian territories caused by the Israeli aggression and efforts to contain the situation.
Efforts to bolster relations were also on the table of discussions, said Radhi.
He also noted that the issue of the Grand Renaissance Dam, which created dispute between Ethiopia and its neighbors, namely Egypt, was also discussed with Al-Sisi urging the US to take a positive stance in resolving the situation. (end) rg.gta
