Boat capsizes N. Pakistan, killing 10 children

ISLAMABAD, Jan 29 (KUNA) -- At least 10 students of a religious educational institution died when their boat capsized in Pakistan's northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Sunday, said officials.
A spokesperson for the Rescue service 1122, Bilal Faizi told media that 10 children were killed while six bodies have been recovered so far. He said that around 30 people were on the boat while 17 children and a teacher were rescued.
The boat capsized in the Tanda Dam Lake in Kohat district of KP. The official further said that four children are in critical condition and moved to the government-run district hospital.
All children aboard were aged between 12 and 20 years and were out on a day trip to the dam. Earlier last year, 18 women lost their lives when an overcrowded boat carrying a wedding party across the Indus River in southern Rahim Yar Khan District capsized. (end) sbk.hb
