MOSCOW, Jan 27 (KUNA) -- The Russian Federation on Friday condemned the recent burning of the Holy Quran by an extremist in the Swedish capital, Stockholm, as "a barbaric act".
Speaking at a press conference, Russian Foreign Ministry's spokesman Maria Zakharova said it is unacceptable to use freedom of expression as an excuse to allow the burning of the Quran or any other holy book.
The spokeswoman, further, denounced any attempt to justify insulting the values of others under the pretext of freedom of expression.
Last Saturday, Swedish-Danish right-wing extremist, Stram Kurs Party leader Rasmus Paludan burned a copy of the Holy Quran near the Turkish embassy in Stockholm, amid tight police protection that prevented anyone from approaching him while committing this act. (end)
