Senior Kuwaiti official calls for coordinated efforts to overhaul industries

KUWAIT, Jan 25 (KUNA) -- Overhauling Kuwait's industrial sector warrants collaborated support and efforts from all relevant departments and sectors, a senior official said on Wednesday.
Among the departments that should have an input in boosting the sector is the Public Authority for Industry, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Industrial Bank of Kuwait and the Federation of Kuwaiti Industries, said Mazen Al-Nahedh, the Minister of Commerce and Industry.
Al-Nahedh, also the Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology, was speaking at a news conference marking the granting of His Highness the Amir Award for the distinguished industries -- in the sixth edition 2023.
He affirmed that the award, presented by the Public Authority for Industry, proved an effective stimulant for the top-level national industries, expressing gratitude to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for his continuous sponsorship of industrial activities and the award.
Meanwhile, PAI Acting Director General Mohammad Al-Adwani said the authority is keen on expanding participation in the award competitions for sake of enhancing products' quality and promoting the sector as a whole.
The authority has been giving the award since years ago -- allotting USD 327,000 for the winner. (end) rk
