KUWAIT, Jan 23 (KUNA) -- The Cabinet on Monday tendered a letter of resignation to His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
In a statement post-cabinet session, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Barrak Al-Shaitan said that the resignation came due to the deadlock reached on various issues with the legislative authority during the first session of the 17th legislative term of the National Assembly.
The minister expressed confidence in the wisdom of His Highness Sheikh Mishal in taking the necessary action in line with the highest interest of the country.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet commended the decision by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, issuing decree 8/2023 on January 17 of pardoning several individuals receiving freedom-restricting penalties in a court ruling.
The Cabinet then discussed recent developments within the region and the world, highlighting the despicable act of burring the Holy Quran, carried out by a Swedish-Danish extremist.
The Cabinet expressed utter disgust towards such vile acts, which went against all notions of peace, coexistence, and tolerance. (end) jy.gta
