KUWAIT, Jan 7 (KUNA) -- Qatar defeated Kuwait 2-0 in their first Group B stage encounter in the Iraq-hosted 25th Arabian Gulf Cup on Saturday. Amr Abdulfattah scored the opener for Qatar at the 23rd minute and his fellow Ahmad Alaa-Eddin doubled the advantage through a penalty kick in the 38th minute.
In the second game, the Kuwaiti players improved their performance and reached the goal more than once but failed to score.
With this result, Qatar lead the Group B with three points ahead of Bahrain on goal difference after Bahrain's 2-1 victory over the United Arab Emirates earlier today. The United Arab Emirates and Kuwait came third and fourth respectively also on goal difference as neither have any point. (end) fsa.ibi
