Major events concerning Kuwait parliament in 2022

 KUWAIT, Dec 26 (KUNA) -- In 2022, Kuwait witnessed several major developments and events related to the Kuwaiti National Assembly (parliament), mainly swearing by MPs of the constitutional oath during the first regular session of the 17th legislative term.
The following is a list of major events and activities connected with the Kuwaiti parliament: Jan 4: The Prime Minister and his cabinet took the constitutional oath at the start of National Assembly's ordinary session.
Jan 4: National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim announced he has received an interpellation request from MP Hamdan Al-Azmi against Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah that consists of five aspects.
Jan 12: Speaker Al-Ghanim adjourned the session due to lack of quorum, and government non-attendance according to Article 116 of the Kuwaiti constitution.
Jan 13: Kuwaiti National Assembly approved in the second reading a draft law to amend some provisions of the Printing and Publishing Law.
Jan 18: Speaker Al-Ghanim announced that 10 lawmakers presented a no-confidence motion against Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah.
Jan 25: The National Assembly in its special session agreed to increase Kuwait Credit Bank's (KCB) capital to provide liquidity for housing loans.
Jan 26: The National Assembly renewed confidence in Deputy Prime Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah.
Feb 1: Speaker Al-Ghanim announced the interpellation motion submitted by MP Shuaib Al-Muwaizri to Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah. Feb 1: The National Assembly rejected a Public Prosecution request to scrap the parliamentary immunity of MPs Mohammad Al-Mutair, Khaled Al-Otaibi and Thamer Al-Suwait.
Feb 1: The National Assembly rescinded the immunity of MP Shuaib Al-Muwaizri at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office.
Feb 8: The National Assembly discussed the grilling of Foreign Minister and State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah over alleged mismanagement, submitted by MP Shuaib Al-Muwaizri, and 10 MPs filed a no-confidence vote against the minister.
Feb 9: The National Assembly approved a number of recommendations regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) travel restrictions and health guidelines in general.
Feb 16: MP Abdullah Al-Mudhaf handed Parliament Speaker Al-Ghanim a grilling motion filed against Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Ali Al-Mousa.
March 8: Parliament Speaker Al-Ghanim said that 10 Kuwaiti members of parliament lodged a no-confidence motion against Minister Al-Mousa.
March 9: Speaker Al-Ghanim declared that he had received an interpellation motion from MPs Dr. Hassan Johar, Khaled Al-Otaibi and Muhannad Al-Sayer to His Highness the Prime Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
March 15: The National Assembly approved the postponement motion requested by the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, to defer interpellation submitted against him.
March 15: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of interior Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah took constitutional oath before the parliament session in line with Article 91 of the Constitution.
March 16: The National Assembly renewed confidence in Minister of Public Works and State Minister for Youth Affairs Ali Al-Mousa.
March 29: National Assembly Speaker Al-Ghanim announced that 10 MPs filed a "non-cooperation" motion against His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
April 5: Speaker Al-Ghanim announced that His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and his cabinet had submitted resignation.

Sept 29: Elections for the 17th legislative term of the National Assembly were held.
Oct 18: His Highness the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah opened the first regulation session of the 17th legislative term for the National Assembly.
Oct 18: Members of Parliament swear the constitutional oath during the first regular session of the 17th legislative term for the National Assembly.
Oct 18: The cabinet, in an unprecedented historical step, did not partake in the sessions forming the National Assembly's committee in adherence with the leadership's instructions.
Oct 18: The National Assembly chose MP Ahmad Al-Saadoun as Speaker of parliament during its first session of the 17th legislative term. The positions of deputy speaker, secretary, and other leading posts were also selected during the session.

Nov 21: The National Assembly received the interpellation motion by MP Hamdan Al-Azmi against the Minister of Public Works, Minister of Electricity, Water, and renewable Energy Resources, Dr. Amani Bugmmaz.
