BRUSSELS, Dec 13 (KUNA) -- The European Parliamentآ’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) is expected to discuss a draft law lifting Schengen visa requirements for citizens of Kuwait and Qatar most probably in January, according to EU sources.
At the opening of the European Parliamentآ’s plenary session in Strasbourg Monday evening, the parliament voted in faovur to refer the draft proposal back to the LIBE for further discussion.
The issue will be discussed by the European Parliamentآ’s political groups and then by LIBE and if they agree on a new draft law, the issue will go before the European Parliament again for its endorsement, the sources told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), speaking on condition of anonymity, Tuesday.
LIBE might discuss it in its January meeting, "but the whole process will take quite some time," noted the sources. (end) nk.mt
