US to increase rotational military posture in Australia

WASHINGTON, Dec 6 (KUNA) -- The US will increase its rotational military posture in Australia, including bomber task forces, fighters and Navy and Army capabilities, Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin said on Tuesday.
Washington also intends to expand its logistics and sustainment cooperation. "That will deepen our interoperability and create more agile and resilient capabilities," Austin told reporters during talks with his Australian counterpart.
"We'll also continue to find ways to further integrate our defense industrial bases in the years ahead. And we agreed to enhance trilateral defense cooperation and to invite Japan to integrate into our force posture initiatives in Australia." Both countries look to involve Japan in this force posture cooperation, Australia's Defence Minister Richard Marles said ahead of scheduled talks in Tokyo next week. (end) rsr.sd
