KUWAIT, Dec 3 (KUNA) -- Argentine defeated Australia 2-1 in the round 16 of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium on Saturday, to become the second team to book a seat in the championship's quarterfinals.
Argentine superstar Lionel Missi scored the opener in the 35th minute from an amazing shot and Julian Alvarez doubled the lead in the 57th minute.
The stubborn Aussies, however, managed to narrow this lead in the 77th minute when Argentine's midfielder Enzo Fernandez deflected Craig Goodwin's fierce shot into hit own net.
The Argentine will face The Netherlands in the quarterfinals on Friday, December 9. (end)
