Turkish DM defends military action in Syria

ISTANBUL, Dec 2 (KUNA) -- Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said on Friday that the ongoing military operation in northern Syria poses no threat to anyone.
"The Turkish army's operation (in Syria) poses no threat to anyone. Our only goal is to protect the rights of our country and people in the context of existing rulers," Akar told reporters in the northwestern province of Canakkale.
He called on Russia, the US and other allies to honor their commitments towards Turkiye, and to stop supporting militants.
The Turkish army has recently launched Operation Claw-Sword in northern Iraq and Syria, a cross-border aerial campaign against PKK militants. (end) ta.mt
