Germany hails "great" 15-year Qatar gas deal

BERLIN, Nov 29 (KUNA) -- Germany on Tuesday welcomed Qatar's plan to supply Berlin with liquefied natural gas (LNG) under an agreement aiming to replace Russian exports, hailing 15-year timeframe attached to the deal as "great." As per the agreement, which comes into effect in 2026, Qatar's state-owned oil and gas company will send Germany some two million tons of LNG a year, QatarEnergy's CEO Saad Al-Kaabi said on Tuesday.
The agreement is the first-ever long-term LNG supply deal to Germany, he added, underlining the deal's longevity as instrumental in "contributing to Germany's long-term energy security." (end) anj.nam
