ISTANBUL, Oct 3 (KUNA) -- Turkiye presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin has said "it's about time to start a dialogue to end the war in Ukraine, to secures the sovereignty of Ukraine, its and territorial integrity, within the framework of international law.
This came during a meeting between Kalin and the head of the office of Ukraine President Andriy Yermak, in Istanbul.
In a statement, the Turkish Presidency quoted Kalin as saying "Turkiye opposed the Russian violation to the international law by annexing four east Ukraine regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia.
The statement pointed out the Turkish continues efforts to bring the two sides together in spite of such difficult circumstances.
The two sides stressed the need for the entire international community to support Turkey's efforts and the multilateral initiatives it is leading to end the war and establish peace.
They also confirmed the importance of the leading role played by Turkiye to finalize the Istanbul Agreement to ship the Ukrainian grain to the whole world crossing the Black Sea, in addition to the prisoner exchange agreement.
On Sunday, Kalin met with US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and addressed many bilateral and international issues. (end) ta.nhq
