Cabinet congratulates Amir on anniversary of coronation

KUWAIT, Oct 1 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti cabinet congratulated His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on the second anniversary of his coronation which fell on Thursday.
During an extraordinary session on Saturday, the cabinet said the country witnessed more progress, development and construction under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir, wishing everlasting wellbeing for His Highness the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince, and more prosperity for the country.
The meeting, held at Al-Seif Palace, was presided over by His Highness the Prime Minister Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Dr. Mohammad Abdullatif Al-Fares.
The cabinet also congratulated Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman on the royal order appointing him as Prime Minister of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, expressing the best wishes for the Crown Prince under the wise leadership of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah briefed the cabinet on the visit of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to Saudi Arabia and his meeting with Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Prime Minister of the Kingdom.
During his meeting with the Saudi Crown Prince, His Highness the Prime Minister handed a letter from His Highness the Amir to Saudi King on boosting the deep-rooted relations between the two countries.
Sheikh Ahmad Nasser also apprised the Cabinet of His Highness the Prime Minister's visit to the United Nations General Assembly H.Q in New York where he delivered Kuwait's speech before the 77th session of the UNGA, as representative of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
In the speech, His Highness the Prime Minister reviewed the historical role of the organization in addressing challenges and chronic crises faced by the world and dangers facing humanity, Sheikh Ahmad Nasser said. His Highness the Premier also reiterated Kuwait's adherence to the multilateral international system and objectives of the United Nations Charter to ensure the achievement of the mission of this organization in the service of humanity, the minister said. The Prime Minister reviewed Kuwait's efforts to reach a just and comprehensive peace in various regional issues, stressing the necessity of preserving the sovereignty of countries and good neighborliness, in addition to combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, Sheikh Ahmad Nasser said.
In addition, Sheikh Ahmad Nasser informed the ministers about his visit to Japan, as His Highness the Amir's representative, to attend the funeral ceremony of former Japanese premier Shinzo Abe and conveyed condolences of His Highness the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince as well as Kuwaitis to Japanese officials.
Meanwhile, Minister of Justice, Minister of State for Nazaha (Integrity) Enhancement and Minister of Awqaf (Endowment) and Islamic Affairs Jamal Al-Jalawi told the Cabinet about the ministerial resolution on terminating services of President of the Court of Cassation Counselor Ahmed Musaed Abdul Mohsen Al-Ajeel, as he reached the retirement age. The Cabinet lauded Al-Ajeel's sincere efforts during his services, wishing him continued success.
On the results of the National Assembly election, Minister of Defense and Acting Minister of Interior Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah made a presentation to the Cabinet on the outcomes of the poll.
The Cabinet extolled the tangible efforts and the distinguished organizing of the voting process, lauding all government bodies personnel and officials, mainly Sheikh Talal Khaled, who harnessed all possibilities to help citizens vote. The Cabinet expressed satisfaction about fraternal spirit and good competition amongst all candidates and voters that reflected the spirit of one family and practicing deep-rooted democracy in Kuwait.
The Cabinet voiced its heartfelt congratulations to the MPs who gained the confidence of citizens.
It wished the new MPs every success in their mission to serve their homeland and translate directives of His Highness the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince to enhance constructive cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities for comprehensive development.
His Highness the Prime Minister briefed the Cabinet that he would submit the resignation to the political leadership Sunday (tomorrow).
Moreover, the Cabinet approved a draft decree, inviting the new National Assembly to hold the regular term of the 17th legislative session on October 11 (15 Rabi' al-Awwal 1444 of Hijra) and decided to refer it to His Highness the Amir. (end) amh.hm
