US condemns Pyongyang's multiple ballistic missile launches

WASHINGTON, Sept 29 (KUNA) -- The US condemned Thursday North Koreaآ’s multiple ballistic missile launches, saying these launches are "a clear violation of multiple UN Security Council resolutions." State Department Principal Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel told reporters during a phone briefing "these launches are a clear violation of multiple UN Security Council resolutions and demonstrate the threat the DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) poses to the region as well as the international community." He reiterated that the US remains "deeply committed to a diplomatic approach with the DPRK and call on the DPRK to engage in dialogue." He continued "our commitment to the defense of the Republic of Korea and Japan, two of our key allies in the region, remains ironclad." North Korea fired this morning two short range ballistic missiles into the East Sea (Sea of Japan), the third such provocation in less than a week.
This comes as earlier today US Vice President Kamala Harris visited the Demilitarized Zone during her trip to South Korea. (end) si
