EU concerned over killing of Palestinians in West Bank

BRUSSELS, Sept 29 (KUNA) -- The European Union expressed concern over the situation in the occupied West Bank following a raid by Israeli soldiers in the Jenin refugee camp on Wednesday during which four Palestinians were killed and over 40 injured.
"We are following the events in the occupied territories with concern," lead EU spokesperson for foreign affairs and security policy, Peter Stano, told a news conference in Brussels on Thursday, in reply to a question by the Kuwait news agency, KUNA on the issue.
"All this unfortunate incidents, all this unfortunate and unnecessary loss of life, damage to properties and injuries only underlines the need for both sides to re-engage in meaningful dialogue, direct negotiations to solve the situation," he said.
"As we see every day it is the ordinary people who are paying the price. Any credible perspective to launch the negotiations will give the necessary impetus for both sides to engage and prevent things like this from happening and being repeated over and over," added Stano. (end) nk.gb
