French FM in Ukraine to demonstrate support

PARIS, Sept 27 (KUNA) -- French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna on Tuesday arrived in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv on the third such mission by a senior French official since launch of Russia's "special military operation" in the country.
Minister Colonna's visit was designed to manifest solidarity with the Ukrainian people, bolster full support for Ukraine, its sovereignty and territorial sanctity, said the French Foreign Ministry in a statement. It also came against backdrop of "sham referendums held on the Ukrainian territories," it added alluding to the Russian-orchestrated referenda in some Ukrainian regions for secession from the Ukrainian motherland.
The official statement added that minister Colonna's mission followed efforts by French diplomats within quarters of the United Nations General Assembly to "tighten Russia's isolation." It added that she would meet Ukrainian officials including Presidnet Volodomyr Zelenski. Her agenda would primarily address France's humanitarian support, efforts against impunity and prospects of safeguarding the nuclear plant in Zaporizhzhia. (end) ma.rk
