Iraq calls for respecting its sovereignty

NEW YORK, Sept 24 (KUNA) -- Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhemi has renewed the call upon "some other states" to abstain from using Iraqi territories at the pretext of combating terrorism and protecting their national security.
Addressing the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Al-Khadhemi affirmed necessity of respecting principles upon which the UN charter is based, as well as the international laws and international relations. He also urged for respecting states' sovereignty and good neighborliness principles.
Accumulating disputes must be resolved via diplomatic channels he said, without elaborating.
Iraq, keen on being a source of regional and international stability, seeks to narrow the gulf of differences among regional powers, he indicated. (end) asf.rk
