CAIRO, Sept 22 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Chief of Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR), Karam Jabr, called for developing joint Arab media work mechanisms and conveying Arab perspective to the foreign world, on Thursday.
This came in Jabr's speech when heading the 52nd session of ministerial council, sponsored by President Abdulfattah Al-Sisi, in which he stressed the necessity of correcting current image of Arab world, as well as spread and boost culture of tolerance.
Jabr described the meetings of Arab information ministers as a turning point towards achieving a more progressive Arab media system able to keep up with cultural, economic, political and social developments.
While Arab states are facing challenges and threats during unprecedented global conditions, Jabr indicated that media is a power not be underestimated, as it contributes to the enlightenment of societies, to raising awareness and garnering efforts.
He added that the Arab world has media personalities to take pride in, considering them instruments of soft Arab power.
The session's agenda includes a slew of important issues, at the forefront of which is the Palestinian case, role of media in combating terrorism, examining influence of violent video games, as well as goals of Arab media strategy (2022-2026).
