Macron: Ukraine's allies must stand firm against Russia's nuclear threats

PARIS, Sept 22 (KUNA) -- Ukraine's allies must stand firm against Russian President Vladimir Putin's threats of using nuclear weapons in the ongoing war against Kyiv, said French President Emmanuel Macron Thursday.
"Obviously, it's blackmail and obviously he has these weapons and the risk is still there. But it's also a means of pressure", Macron told BMF news.
He also noted that there is a counter-offensive from the south and the north which has destabilized the Russian front, adding that the Russian economic situation is obviously more complex than has been said.
Yesterday, the Russian President announced a "partial mobilization" of the Russian population, and therefore the enlistment of 300,000 reservists, and considered aloud the use of atomic weapons in the event that the "vital interests" of his country were threatened. (end) mo.aa
