RIYADH, Sept 22 (KUNA) -- Saudi Arabia celebrates on Friday the 92nd anniversary of the national day, bringing into memories the profound role of the late monarch, Abdulaziz Al-Saud, who had laid the corner stone of the modern kingdom.
The late founder of the kingdom had also carved out an ideal path for his successors, who followed his steps and spared no effort for building a prosperous and advanced nation.
The "kingdom 2030 vision," a multi-year development strategy, had been launched by the Crown Prince and the Deputy Prime Minister, Prince Mohammad bin Salman, for meeting the aloft aspirations of the Saudi people to see tangible development in the economic, military, security, health, cultural, tourist, educational, energy and environment sectors.
At the regional level, the kingdom has become a basis for security and peace in the Arabian Gulf, largely due to its tactful and sagacious policies. Due to its significant weight, Saudi Arabia had hosted a series of significant conventions such as "the Jeddah security and development" summit that was attended by US President Joe Biden, GCC leaders, and Arab leaders.
Undoubtedly, the kingdom substantial economic resources have added to its political weight on the international stage. A member of the G-20, Riyadh is a key influencer on the global energy market, seeking to maintain balance of prices and output of the oil crude.
The Saudi efforts at this level had been widely applauded particularly during peak of the coronavirus crisis.
At the military level, Riyadh is striving to nationalize 50 percent of its needs of the military hardware industries, seeking update the local military industrial sector and setting up strategic partnerships with international industrial military conglomerates. Moreover, in this vein, it hosts the GCC unified military command, headquarters of the Islamic coalition for fighting terrorism and the alliance for supporting the legitimacy in Yemen.
At the educational level, at onset of the current academic year, up to six million students were registered in the kingdom schools, colleges and universities.
With respect of medical services, up to 2,325 medical centers are spread all over the kingdom territories -- along with 274 hospitals with a capacity of 53,000 beds.
In transportation, the cities have been linked up with a 66,000-km-long road networks, in addition to the construction of 29 airports, nine sea ports and 18 trains.
The kingdom "vision 2030" has dedicated significant attention to tourism. In the records is launch of the tourist visa for citizens of 49 states, and among the landmark projects in the field is the Neom venture, a lucrative smart city said to be the source of pride for the kingdom in modern times.
Also in line with the proceeding progress, the kingdom has hosted various cultural events such as "Shetaa Tantoura festival," in Alola.
In sports, it had held two Formula race rounds, the global boxing heavy-weight championship in addition to many other tournaments. The national soccer team had qualified for the world cup six times, latest of which the one to be hosted by Qatar in the coming November.
At the environmental level, the kingdom has established a number of natural reserves, in addition to the approach of utilizing clean energy With respect of diplomacy, the Saudi-Kuwait relations are an example to be followed for the ties among states, as they have been based in good neighborliness bonds, cooperation, integration and coordination.
The two GCC countries coordinate at various regional and international levels. In 2018, they signed the minutes of establishing the joint coordination council, grouping Kuwait and Saudi strategies engaged in coordination at various levels. (end) mdm.rk
