CAIRO, Aug 27 (KUNA) -- Egypt's Naval Forces along with US and Spanish Navy destroyers and frigates carried out a "passing exercise" (PASSEX) within the Mediterranean on Saturday under the auspices of NATO.
Egypt's Armed Forces stated earlier today that during the past days exercises were conducted following a familiarization conference meet of the commanding officers from all there participating nations beforehand.
Adding, the Joint PASSEX aimed to locate surface and aerial threats through collaborative coordination and partnership of the navy's partaking, and also involved advanced communications and maneuvering tests.
They are also preparing for threats affecting international navigation and the flow of global trade mainly by signaling exercises between fleet units' incorporations with NATO's Maritime Group. (end) asm.mmj.aq
