Blast in Kabul mosque kills three, wounds 24 - hospital

ISLAMABAD, Aug 18 (KUNA) -- At least three people lost their lives while 24 others injured in an explosion inside a mosque in Afghanistan's capital city Kabul, said reports on Thursday.
According to Kabul's Emergency Hospital, the hospital received 27 injured people following an explosion in a mosque on Wednesday night, adding that there are three fatalities and the wounded include five children.
The spokesperson for the Taliban, Zabihullah Mujahid confirming the blast said there were dead and wounded civilians, but did not confirm the toll.
He said that the Taliban government strongly condemns the explosion, and vowed that the perpetrators of "such crimes will be caught and punished for their heinous deeds." There has been no official statement on casualties yet. No one has claimed responsibility for the blast so far.
The security forces cordoned off the area and a probe into the incident is underway. According to media reports, the casualty toll is feared to rise as some eyewitnesses claimed that up to 20 people have been killed in the blast. (end) sbk.mt
