KUWAIT, Aug 18 (KUNA) --

1952 -- Sultan Ibrahim Al-Kulaib, who was member in the Ma'aref (knowledge) council and Municipal Council, passed away at 63. Al-Kulaib also worked as director of Department of Works, Director of Municipality and first manager of Kuwait electricity company.
1990 -- The Iraqi regime decided to round up all foreigners - whose countries were taking part in an international coalition to liberate Kuwait - and place them in vital facilities in Iraqi and Kuwaiti territories as long as it was facing a possible all-out war because of its invasion of the State of Kuwait.
1990 -- UN Security Council urged Iraq to allow foreigners in Iraq and Kuwait to leave immediately and guarantee their safety.
1992 -- State of Kuwait and France signed, in Paris, an agreement that organize cooperation in the case Kuwait came under foreign attack.
1990 -- Kuwait Health Insurance Company was established as a closed shareholding company with a KD five million capital. The Public Institute for Social Security owned 99.9 percent of the new company.
2004 -- Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) announced a new oil discovery in Bahra field, light crude with a daily production capacity of 4,860 barrels and 670.12 million cubic feet of associated gas.
2007 -- Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research's seismic center registered 4.3-degree earthquake in Makageesh area, southern Kuwait.
2011 -- State of Kuwait supported a call by the European Union and the US for an emergency session of the UN Human Rights Council over developments in Syria.
2016 -- Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Arab Petroleum Pipelines Company (SUMED) to study oil projects.
2018 -- Qadsia SC won the football Super Cup after for the fifth time in its history after beating rival Kuwait SC 2-1.
2000 -- Musician Marzouq Al-Marzouq passes away at 54. He was one of the founding members of the Kuwait Television troupe.
2021 -- Sport historian Hussain Al-Baloushi opened the first sport museum in the Arab and Asian regions, consisting of 10,000 collections. (end) bs
